ROAD BOARD.
The ordinary monthly meeting o the Taratahi-Carterton Road Board was held on Saturday last. Present — Messrs H. E. Bunny (Chairman), E, W. Dorsett N. Grace, E. Morgan, James Stevens, G. W. Deller and H. Braithwaite.
The minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed. The Treasurer reported a credit balance of £Bl 10s Id; outstanding rates about £7O ; rates collected since last meeting, £35. Correspondence in wards From Carterton Borough Council enclosing answer \ to a resolution passed at the last meeting re road works. From Mr J. Rayner, tendering his resignation as a member of the Board on account cf about leaving for England. From J, Bambry, re cleaning out drain Dalefield Road. Matter left with the Wsrdpn and the Overseer of roads.
The returning officer was authorised to take the necessary steps for the election of a warden for No. 1 Ward in the place of Mr Rayner, resigned. From Treasury, advising that certain monies had been paid to the Board's credit for works on the East Coast line of road.
The following tenders were received for metalling railway line, Matarawa: M.Wilde, 22s 6d per chain (accepted); H. Rayner, 24s 9d per chain. Metalling Waterson's line : M. Wilde, 18s 9d per chain (accepted) ; H. Rayner, 22s 6d per chain, W. Heaton 19s per chain, E. Butler, 25s per chain. Mr W. Stanley's tender for road work on the East Coast line at .£2B was accepted. Accounts amounting to £165 8s 2d were passed for payment. Instructions were given to the overseer to effect some repairs to Short street, also to the road near the sohool at Waihakeke. Mr Moore was authorised to expend the sum of £lO in repairs to culverts on the Coast road. The Chairman was authorised to sign the document from Government re the expenditure of £BOO voted for the Coast road, Mr Hodder again waited on the Board in reference to his road, and offered to give L2 and the metal for the same The applicant stated he thought that the work oould be done for Li 10s. The warden was authorised to arrange the matter. The meeting then adjourned.
