A special moating of the Masterton Borough Council will be held on Tuesday, 10th March, 1891, at 8. 80 pm, in the Council Chambers, Maaterton, convened on a requisition signed by Councillors S. E. Gappar, W. Perry, and E. E. Chamberlain. Business. For the purpose of dealing with the following notice of motion given by Councillor Gapper, viz., "That the- resolution of the Borcugh Council passed on the 3rd of March, 1891, to raise the kerbing where asphalted from about three chains from the north end of such work, be rescinded."

A meeting of the Greytown Friendly Societies Sports Committee was held last night. The Secretary reported that the nominations, which close on Saturday next, the 7th inst, are coming in freely. The Greytown footballers are already making preparations for the coming season, The Fire Brigade Football Club holds its animal meeting on Saturday, and the Greytown Club some day next week. The quarterly session of the Licensing Committee for the Borough <*f Masterton was held in tho Courthouse at noon tu-day, there being present Messrs G, ! Heron, W. Perry, J. Williams and A. W. Hogg, M.H.R. In the absence of the chairman (Mr E. M'Ewen), Mr G. Heron was elected Chairman, pro tcm. Sergeant Price reported that the various licensed housos in the town were being well conducted, and he had no objections to offer to either. The license of the Prince of Wales Hotel was transferred from Mrs Phoebe Wagg to Mrs Agnes Thompson. This was the only business transacted.

To morrow we have resolved te clear out all our Remnants of Black Silks, Colored Silks, Black Satins, Colored Satins, Black Silk Velvets, Colored Silk Yelvecs, and all dress Fabrics at half price at "The Fair," To Aro H->'se. Wellington. To morrow we invite special attention to tho remarkably cheap lots in our dress department at Te Aro House. Those who will throng that counter aud make their selections from tho array of bargains displayed will have every reason to be thankful'for the institution of "The Fair."
