He said 'Get her hat,' I took' tho baby from hmi, but he took hold of the child's foot and held it, and while he was holding it he pulled something out of his overcoat pooket. Ho pulled a revolver out of his pocket and fired at me. 1 ran out of the back with the two babies in my arms. He got me up against a wall and fired at me four times.- He fired the shots one after the other, The fifth shot was a blank, and all the Bhots did not hit me. Three hit me, and the fourth shot hit the baby that 1 had in my arms. A detective came in then and caught hold of him. 1 called out murder. Jt was Mrs Heffernan's baby I had in my arms, and that is the child that was shot. Tho prisoner is my husband ; he was the man who fired the shots at mo." Prisoner was here asked if he.hud any questions to ask his wife, but he said "No."
