PAHIATUA
(From Our Own Correspondent.)
The town looked quite lively on Thursday afternoon, when no less than five coaches, in addition to the ordinary mail coaches, passed through freighted with the members and luggage of the different Dramatic Companies. Dr Canaris and Miss Olive Beaumont showed here the same evening to a good house. Much disappointment was felt, however, at the non-arrival of the Midgets, in whom much interest was centred. Reports of the conversion of the heathen by the Salvation Army come tfi ua daily from the settlement. This once hotbed of iniquity should shortly resemble the Garden of Eden in its halcyon days if all we hear ja correot. Pigeons appear to he plentiful this year. They can he seen almost anywhere in the Bush and promise a good season for sportsmen.
