THE TROUBLE AT HOME. SHEARER'S DIFFICULTY. London, February 17. The Thames lightermen have struck work, in sympathy with the other waterside Unions. The Unionist leaders assert that the Australian Unions are prepared to block Federation owned Bhips on their arrival in Australia. Owing to the dockers refusing to disohargb the steamer Matatua, from New Zealand, the butchers are discharging her meat under police protection. The dockers also refused to discharge the Australian steamers Alniora and Tarqba. Ilje railwaymen, carmen, and lightermen, have agreed not to handle goods consigned tp firms. Brisbane, f«brUMyjL7.^ Owing to the action of the ut riiu£ shearers the squatters are arming the free shearers in their employ. February 18. Eighty armed police hava been despatched to Rockhampton. The sale of firearms has been forbidden in Clermont. It is expected that the Logon Downs shearing shed will be the scene of the first attack by the Unionists.
