The Secretary and Treasurer's report was then read as fellows: —Gentlemen, —It is with great pleasure that your Committee lay before you what they trust may be a satisfactory account of funds received and expenditure of same. One of the many wants of the District has now been supplied in the shape of a Hall available foe public purposes, although in a crude form as yet. It is, however, to be regretted that some setllera, who are, we believe, able to assist're, have not yet co.ue forward and enabled us to erect the hall free from debt. We have, however, promises from settlers to take up some shares if the County loans are carried* If those promises are fulfilled, together with the aid of a few entertainments in the course of the present year, your Coaamitt3e see no reason why they should not have the honour to report at the next annual meeting that the hall is free froaa debt. You will see from the balance sheet that the sum of £6B 103 is credited to shares account. This represents 137 shares at 10s taken up, leaving 43 shares for disposal. The expenses account, £ll Ha lid, includes seats £5 Bs, and platform £1 10s, Insurance £2 17s 6d and the balance £1 18s books, forms, envelopes and The latter item, in the coming financial year, will be considerably reduced, and the item for Insurance will we hope be reduced. The concert account shows a nett credit of £ll Is 3d ; this, however, includes £4 9s, proceeds of a concert held in aid of the hall previous to erection. I may state for the information of shareholders that the result of the first concert, under the management of the committee, resulted in a nett profit' of £4 18s 2d towards the funds of the haJL The late concert and dance produced £1 19s 9d nett, (ineffidiog 6s 6d in list of assets). Unfortunately the night was unfavorable, and detracted considerably both from the enjoyment of the dance and from the proceeds for tickets. The actual po ifcion at present is briefly. money assets £6 9s, and liabilities " £2B ss, leaving a debt of £2l 16s to be liquidated. The annual report was approved of. .
