Ohristchuoh, February 17. A mysterious affair happened at Lyttelton about 1 p. m. to-day. The mate of the ship Opawa, which ia lying at Gladstone Pier, and other persons heard a child eoream three or four times, apparently from under the wharf ojose to the ship. He looked over the wharf but saw no one. He then jumped in to: the water and swam the whole length 2 of the ship without finding any child.
