BOROUGH COUNCIL.

A. meeting of the Works and Finance Committee of the Masterton Borough Council was held last evening. Present—His Worship the Mayor and Crs Gapper and Eton. The Overseer's report wa3 read, The Overseer was instructed to remove all approaches for crossings over footways in Queen Street. z The Town Clerk was instructed to communicate with owners of property in William's Street, asking them to pay half the cast of construction of the footpath. It was recommended that the Gas '» Committee be instructed to sell no more tar until the asphalting in hand is finished. It was decided that owners of properties interested be written to and asked to contribute towards the cost of hauling the steam engine to the scene of the late fires. Accounts as presented were recommended for payment. The meeting then adjourned.
