An extraordinary suicide caused a panic in the Church of St Michael at Havre. A man entered the building with his clothes soaked in petroleum, a rope round his neck and kindling wood bound round his body. He poured a quantity of petroleum on the ground beneath his feet, set tire to it, and in an instant was completely enveloped in flames. The priest who rushed to his assistance was badly burned.
