Christchoroh, February 6. The Hon Mr W. Copley, Commissioner of Lands for South Australia, left for the West Coast today. Major Newal, District Adjutant, was entertained at a smoke concert by the Volunteer officers last night, prier to his departure for Wellington! I A wrestling match, lor £25 a side, in five styles, has beea arranged between Boss and Robinson. The Poatmaster-Geaeral. Invercargill, February 6. Mr J. G. Ward, PostmasterGeneral, received a semi-public reception on bis arrival from Wellington to-day ; and after an adjournment to the Club Hotel, in returning thanks for the congratulatory remarks of the Mayor, he said he was proud to belong to such a Ministry, every member of which, save one, had risen from the ranks. He expressed a conviction that the present Government would bring down a satisfactory policy, but gave no indication of what it would be.
