The children, fiye in number, with ages ranging from fourteen months to seven years, have been taken charga of by Mr Lars Anderson, of Eketahuna, entirely at his own expense. He has applied to the Benevolent Society for aid, but they informed him ths-t nothing could be done in the matter. He was informed thot the only way was to hand the children over to the police, which he did not like doing as Mrs Anderson had promised Mr Clifton that she would see to the ohildren. It comes very hard on Mr Anderson to have to support the children out of his own pocket. Mrs Clifton has gone out to work, but has bien very ill, and quite uuible to assist in any way. Any one who could assist by giving a little would be doing a charitable action. Subscriptions may be left at the officeof this paper.
