Willoughby, who it will be remembered got away for a few days with the proceeds of the forged cheques, is now in the Woodville gaol and will bo brought before the Justices here to-day (Tuesday.) At a meeting of the Amateur Athletic Association on Saturday evening, the protests in connection with the late sports meeting were considered. Hau Waata's horse Hawera was disqualified for the horse jumping event. Messrs Hughes and McMahon now divide first and second money. Evidence that Francis, who won the District Handicap and Hurdles so easily, had annexed several important races in Blenheim last year, was adduced, but further and final consideration of the matter was held over until Thursday next. Those who are- under the necessity of using the Makuri Valley Road will rejoice that the poll taken on the proposal to borrow £SOO to metal certain portions of it resulted in its being cairied. Throughout the past winter the road has not only been an eyesore, but positively dangerous to the numerous pack horses which have been oyer it. The Saltation Army have come down upon us with a flourish of trumpets. They held four meetings on Sunday in the Village Settlement, which were largely attended,
