The children, fiyo in number, with ages ranging from fourteen months to seven years, have been taken charga of by Mr Lars Anderson, of Eketahuna, ehtirely at his own , expense- He has applied to the Benevolent Society for aid, but tbey informed him th»t nothing could be done in the matter. Ho was informed thot the only way was to hand the children over to the police, which he did not like doins; as Mrs Anderson had promised Mr' Clifton that she would see to the children. I It comes very hard on Mr Anderson to have to support the children out of liia own pocket. Mrs Clifton has gone out to work, but has very ill, and quite unable to assist in any way. Any one who could assist by giving a little would be doing a charitable actisn. Subscriptions may be left at the officeof this paper. |
