BOROUGH COUNCIL.
Committee Meeting-
A meeting of the Works and Finance Committees of the Masterton Borough Council was held last evening. Present—His Worship the Mayor, and"Crs Gapper, Eton, and Hes^T* The Overseer reported that he had got about 100 yards of asphalte ready for laying. He had attended to the water race from the Post Office to the head of Lincoln road and done other necessary work. The approach to the Ruamahunga river had been made. He recommended that the Waipoua bridge be re-decked, but not with white pine. The various contracts had not yet been started. -*• It was r?.solved to recommend that Waipoua bridge be re-decked with Biintotara. ' it was also resolved, on the suggestion of the Mayor, to recommend that a road be taken under the Public Works Act to connect the Upper Plain with the Akura road. It was decided that before the Works Committee accept the swper- ■•- vision of any water supply scheme laid before the Council, all the necessary plans and levels, with the ' particulars and the cost of the proposed work, be submitted to and approved of by the Council. A sum of 20s was allowed ths . poundkeeper for losses snstained. The dog tax for the current year ■was fixed at ss. The collector was instructed to sue for all outstanding rates forthwith. . Accounts as submitted were recommended for payment, and the meeting adjourned.
