Masterton School Committee.

[To the Editor.] Sir.—There is a certain place tffttw inhabitants of whioh claim the privilege of speaking twice. Mr O. E. Daniell evidently belongs to it. At the last meeting of the Masterton School Committee he threatened to " bully " the Town Lands Trust for what ? For money to pa." off a debt of £SO, inourred by the late Committee. He now retracts and apologises, but mark the way in which he does it.' He says the phase " coax and bully " was not a commendable one, but expressed what he felt at the time. Now, if Mr Daniell by using the expression said what he felt, why Bhould he apologise for his words, or why should he say, "I used an expression that convey s'a very different meaning |to that intended." Mr Daniell saya Ihe said something he did not mean, and then he says the expression was what he felt. I am afraid Mr Daniell rarely knows what he means. He proved this some time ago when he nominated Mr R. S. Hawkins for the Education Board and then voted for Mr George Beetham. The parents and friends have no right to be asked to contribute to the school, and the Town Lands Trust have no right to be "coaxed or bullied." Why does not Mr Daniell "coax and bully " the Education Board ? He has always objected to applying to the' Board for assistance. Why so anxious to stand well in their estimation ? Will he be candid for once and explain ? I am, &c, H. E. Eton.
