Genoral and Mrs Mite, who nro recognised to bo the smallest couple in the world, made their first appearance in the Theatre Royal, Masterton, last evening. The audience, despite tho inclemency of the weather, was largo. The Midgets were introduced by Sir Flynn, father of the General, who gave a brief biographical skotch of the career of the diminutive pair, explaining how the honour of General had been conferred upon his son by tho President of the United Stated. He has also accomplishments as n vocalist, and last evening rendered Several choice ballads in a very creditable style. Mrs Mite, who is twentythree years of age, is somewhat reserved, but is, notwithstanding, very attractive, having a ino>t ladylike appearance. The entertainment la?t ev€%fig was composed of singing, dancing, and promenades, and was highly appreciated by all who had the privilege of being present. MissSpiller, a young lady from Wellington, pre* ths piano, and played a number (ft'very pretty selections. General and Mrs Mite will have receptions this afternoon and evening . and Monday, when we have no doubt' they will have the pleasure of entertaining large audiences.
