The Latest Yankee Invention.
The newest thing in the - line of j invention is that of an " air ship." An inventor of Mount Carmel, Illinois, has completed the model, got his patent, and a twenty-million dollar stock company to manufacture and run them. The experimental vessel is lSOftJong, shaped like a cigar, made ojHbminium, as light as silk and strong as steel. There are two winged sails with parachutes. A large propeller wheel at the bow pulls the ship forward. On top is a rudder to steer horizontally, and at the stern a rudder to steer laterally. The cabin is hung directly under the buoyancy chamber, and underneath this is the space for the gas engine, electric batteries, etc. The pilot, Btands in the front end of the cabin J and .controls the movement of thJ ship, as all the All the movements are The entire ship, cabin, sails, ga« engine, etc., are made of aluminium J for without the use of this wondeJ fally strong, but light materiaH successful aerial navigation would iH an impossibility.
