MASONIC.
The installation of W.M. and investiture of officers of the Masterton Lodge, N.Z.C., took place last evening. Over fifty brethren assembled, comprising a large number of visitors from the Lower Valiey and other parts. The hall had a very attractive appearance, a new addition being a canopy over the Master's chair, neatly executed by Bro A; M. Brown, of Carterton. The ceremony was perform ad by M.W. Grand Master Bro Thompson. The incidental music was led by an efficient orchestra consisting of Bros Keisenberg, Lundqvist, and Proctor. The. Grand Master was accompanied by Bro W. E. Paige, Grand Chaplain, P.M. Bro Price, assisted as grand director of ceremonies, Bioa Dawes, of i Petoue, and Re yPorritt, of Feather- ' ston, acting as sword bearers. About eighteen Past Masters were presont. Bro James Aitken was duly installed W.M, and the following officers were invested:—S.W, Bro Cullen ;J.W. Bro P. Dickson; Treasurer, Bro ft. M. Galloway; Secretory, Bro W. Sellar ; J.D., Bro. J. A. M'Kenrie j Tyler, Bro. E. S. Richards. After the ceremony, the company sat down to a capital supper provided by Mr Wickens in the' lodge room. Bro. Aitken presided as toast master. The toasts included the Grand Lodge of New Zealand, responded to in * lengthy speech by G.M. Bro.
Thompson; the newly-installed W.M.; the installing officer; oar visiting brethern ; retiring officers ; the preßS ; ladies and Tylor. were contributed by Bros. (J&yTor, Sallar, Drew, Hogg, and Aitken, and an exceedingly pleasant gathering was brought to a close in the early hours of the morning. Daring the proceedings Bro. Price, 011 behalf of the brethorn of the late Thistle Lodge, in a highly complimentary speech, presented the W.M,. Bro. Aitken, with a very handsome past-maater's jewel and an addres which spoke eloquently of his services as Master of the Lodge. The Supposed Xnfa&tloldo. Christchurch, January 14.
