[By Telegraph] (United Press Association). wreoltof a Barque. Auckland, Friday. Arrived, —VVainui, from Samoa, Fiji, and Tonga. She brought news of the wreck of the Auckland barque Notero, at Howland Island, and brought up Captain Campbell and the crew. All hands were saved. The Notero was lost on August 17th, striking on the ridge of a coral reef, one milejfrom the shore of the Island, while standing out to sea. The reef is not marked on the charts. The ship broke up and the crew left in boats and landed safely on the island, ■tdience the brigantine Ryno took them to Samoa. The Notero became a total wreok. She was a Norwegian wooden barque of 180 tons, and was owned by Mr Craig, of Auckland. Fatal Accident Brunnebton, Friday. Thomas Kennedy, belonging to Dunedin, met with a fatal accident at a Brunner mine last night. He was engaged jigging trucks, when a staple broke, tho trucks running down a bank. He was caught by them and killed.
