The lives of two were saved by administering emetics, but the eldest, a boy of six, died in great agony two hours after taking the poison. Auckland, December 80, When the inquest on tbe bodies of those killed in tbe Huntley Mining accident was resumed, Mr J.' Tole appeared with Mr O'Neill on behalf of Messrs Ralph, the owners of the mine, Mr Hay appeared for the relatives ofl'racey and Smith, two of the victims. Mr W N Bearancke was Cotoner, The jury asked to bo informed what remuneration they would receive for tho time they were los< ing on account of the inquest, Tho Coroner said he thought tho jurors were justified in applying for reasonable compensation, and promised ho would make representations to the Government on the subject. Mr E, Balph, one of the ownei'3, and Mr William Collins, tho mine manager, Mm been oxamined up to the present. Patea, December 80. • While Mr A. Atkinson, soil of the Premier, was driving some lady friends in a carriage this afternoon, the horse bolted, and the king bolt of the carrjago oame out,' whon Mr Atjfinson, in endeavouring to hold the horse, was pulled over the wheels, and had hia shoulder dislocated. He was at once driven to Dr Perkins by Mr W, Derrett, who was driving by at tho time, and had the dislocation reduced. The further injuries are,very slight, and no danger is anticipated.
