The minutes of the previous ) ordinary meeting were read and cont firmed., »* The retiring Mayor, Cr Heron, before vacating the chair, thanked ' the Council for tho courtesy extended to him during his term of office, and expressed a hope that bis successor would be as well treated. During the past twelve montliß no important ~ .works had been undertaken, but the t reads had been kept in good repair, i. and there was no reneon to complain 1 of their present position, ' Mr C, A, Pownall then made the 1 usual declaration and took the ' chair, Cr Cullen referred in eulogistic a 8 terms to the retiring Mayor, who had , acted consistently throughout." He h' hoped lie would again see his way & clear to tako a seat in the Council. "As for himself he would endeavor to 0 carry out tho wishes of the burgesses 1 in his capaoity as Mayor, Ho trusted j that party mattors would drop, aud ', that a unanimity of fueling would i, in future prevail.
