RABBIT BOARD.
The monthly meeting 01 the North Wairarapa Rabbit Board was held yesterday, Propfr-Mossrs W H B.ectham (Chairman), Murray, Groves, and J Druinmond, The minutes of the lest meeting wero read and confirmed, Outward and inward correspond dewo was read, • It was resolved that the Board deoline the prayer of the petition re prosecutions. It was also resolved that in accordance with a resolution passed at last meeting of the Board a rate of Id per head on sheep and fid per head on cattle be now lovicd throughout the district on the Stockownera' List of 1890-91. The recent warm dry weather has been most favorable for the increase of the pest, and should it continue it will be necessary for landowners to take most stringent measures to keep down this increase, otherwise the autumn feed will suffer to a very considerable extent, It is still noticeablo-that where tajjeu oflt ofburroys tjioje is little Of no effect made to effectually destroy these burrows, On most properties there is abundance of scrub, and if rabbiters were made to. fill up every burrow from which rabbits were taken it would be found very beneficial as a means of keeping tlio pest in check, A shipment of 169stoaia and 95 wcaselß was received here on tlio 6th inst,taken delivery of, and despatched tp the following person*:—Messrs Wardell Bros,, }5 bWbj J. Kenall Te Whiti, 15 weasels; J;'Strang and S. Grace, Gladstone, 24 stoats and weasels; J. Coppers estate 21 stoats and weasels; J. Bennett, 11 stoats; |, MojMEou's estate, 24 stoats j Thos. jlitchings, 10 weaselß; G, Moore, 2,ostoats; E. Meredith, 12 wepjsj JT. E," Tathem, }S weasels j C, Vallancc, 10 weasels; G. W. Macß, 0 wea.Bsla; J, Groves and Lwin and Co,, l| stootfi|E, and. A, Cameron, and Elder and Co,, 14 stoats; J. C. Andrew, 20 stoats; W. W. Johnston, 20 stoats.
