EDUCATION BOARD
_ An ordinary meeting of the Education Board was held yesterday morning, and was attended by Messrs J, R. Blair, (Chairman), W. 0, Buchanan, J. Young, A. W. Brown, F. H. Fraser, Dr Newman, anil the Bev J. Patcrson, The payslieet, which amounted to The resignations of Miss F. Broberg, Eketahuna, and Mr It, J, Pops, Le7in, were accepted, and MrStuckey temporarily appointed to the charge of the latter school. Mr C. Watson wrote on behalf of the Teaoliers' Association, expressing satisfaction at the action takon by the Board with regard to Mr Cole, who was recently sued by the parent of a scholar whom lie had oliasiisei Mr J, Stu'ckey, of Rangitumau, wrote, asking that the bush might be cleared from off the school reserve at Kopuaranga, for the purpose of the erection of a school, and a<communication on the same subject was read from Mr R, Cade. The matter was referred to the committee appointed to deal with the question of school sites in the Forty-Mile Bush. A request that the sohool teacher's residence at Waihakeke might be papered, was left in the hands of Mr Buchanan, and an application from) the Featherston Committee ithat the Board should have some "repairs, (estimated to cost about £l9) effected to the teacher's residence there, was referred to, the committee appointed by the Board to visit all of the VVairarapa schools. The' Chairman was empowered to deal with the application of the Wadestown Committee, for a grant of £lO for the ereotionof a retaining wall to prevent a recurrence of oarthslips. Misa Nita Johnston, pupil teaoher at the Masterton school, having applied to be transferred nearer home, the matter was left in the hands of the chairman. It was dooided, in accordance with the request of the, Olareville Committee, that Miss Ussher should succeed Miss Brann, at a salary of £3B, New school districts having been constituted at Ballanob, Kaitawa, Levin, Kereru, and Te Horo I( the Board decided they should bo outlined upon the map. The Board deoided to call for competitive designs for good attendance certificates, and afterwards went into committee to make appointments to the Groytown and Vogeltown school;, The selections have been referred to the school committees in tho distriots named, and will not bo made public unless approved by them,
