(From Our Own Correspondent,) There was vory 'little excitement' • hero .over the eleotion. A small amount of betting was indulged in, j}The heaviest bet that I. heard of * was a new hat, It was known early in the day that on account of the large number of men in the bush camps Mr Hogg would head tliov poll. A very large number settlers did not take the trouble to - vote,'thinking, as peoplo in theso , times very ofteu do, that- their vote made very littlo difference. In this case thoy were out of their reckon- ' ing. Mr Polling, of tho Club Hotel, got up a mild mitement in the shape of two figures' seated' outside of hia door, representing tho two candidates.
