Perry, E Chamberlain, ■ (Men, Gapper, -Eton,- T. Chamberlain, 'Dixon,:Heafley andPienall. The minutes :of the. previous meeting,-were read .and confirmed. The Clerk was instructed to take against . Mr .. Wright, failing his complying with the . building regulationsoorf r the Council. CoßßESPobkoE.\>. i From the' Railway Commissioners,: ' offering coal at £1 per ton,—The Clerk stated that they had been able , to get on without making, application to f the' Commissioners so far.—Or Gapper thought it would be better to procure a supply if possible'.—No - action was taken in the matter. ' From the. Secretary of ' table Aid- Board; requesting'who appointment of a representativoon . the Board.—The: Mayor pointed out -v :■ that Mr R. S. Hawkins was their present representative.- Or Cullen ~ moved that Mr Hawkins,be written to, asking if lie was willing to ba re-appointed.—Cr Gapper seconded. —Carried, From a number ol ratepapers in ' Queen-street, requesting'.that ..the - footpath be asphalted from the "Star" corner to tho premises of Mr Cullen. Mills k Co., offering to supply to the Council a; roller for the sum of £7loa or ilO.-Tha Works Committee was empowered to , procure a roller at a cost noli exceeding £ls. i From W. Or Gapper moved that the Works Committee be to draw up specifications for the'work named.
Cr Cullen seconded;— Carried. 1 ; Cr T. Chamberlain moved tlrnt when the above works are completed, tenders be called for the 1 formation of footpaths, He thought it was quite • time some money 'expended on this street. Besides, lie would like to Eee Mr Ronall have to put his hand in his pocket and contribute a little. •The Mayor said it would ba necessary to give notice of motion.. Cr Chamberlain then let the matter drop,, .
Obdisaby, - '• CrjMen called attention to the necessity for repairing the tankat the gasworks. Cr flenall: Well, what's vthe matter with it ? , Cr Cullen: Oltf the bricks have been dropping out of the bottom. The Mayor said his attention had ; been called to the matter some time ago, but he saw no of anything serious. On tlio motion of Cr Cullen, seconded by Cr Dixon, it was resolved that the Gas Committee visit the gasworks and report upon - the matter at next meeting. Cr flapper moved that the Works Committee be instructed to prepare an estimate of the cost of formation and metalling of Bannister-street from the gasworks to Columba road. The road had been on the Bohedule of works from time to time and had boen put off. It had only been patched.' He.would not. include the; footpaths, as it was incumbent upon ratepayers to comply with the Act if v they wanted this addition. Ho would suggest that ratepayers be written to, asking them to contribute towards the cost of footpath formation and. kerbing as was donoin other parts, y Cr Porry seconded. The Mayor pointed out that the overdraft was now £872. Whtn Cr Kenall was Mayor the overdraft jyas not below £I4OO. He had thgrmre voted against these works at raat time. •- , ,-f

Cr I. Chamberlain seconded Cr Benall said the resolution ■ might be all very well; but it was strange such ia course was not - adopted in regjß to Worksop road ' and other streets in the town.' Library Committee was authorised to erect several shelves in tho library, The Town Clerk was instructed to call,for tenders for the Borough cart- : age for twelve months from November 20th, ' : ■ Cr Eton called attention to.the fact that a petition had been signed for a - water supply in Queen street three years ago by sixty-seveu residents of. ■ tliat street. He thought it was strange tho Counoil of that day had taken no ■ ; notice of the petition.
