ROAD BOARD.
The ordinary monthly meeting of the Taratahi Carterton Boad Board was held-.oh ■.-•Saturday. Present-. Mi-Bsrs H, R, Bunny (Chairman) jH.Braithwaito, E. W. Dorset, G. W. Deller, J.'Kayner, E. Morgan, Jas. Stevens and N, Grace, The minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed. The Treasurer reported the bank overdraft to be .« 8s lOd. And account of receipts since last meeting was also laid on the table. The Clerk reported the outstanding rates to be about £IOOO. • It was resolved that defaulters be notified that their rates must bo paid forthwith. somaone, The.matter created a good deal of discussion, and Mr Kaynermoved and the Chairman seconded that the ranger.be; 'authorised to impound all cattle trospassing on" the roads. ;Ah amendment was moved by Mr .Morgan and seconded by Mr, Grace, that. Wardens-have discretionary power ,in the matter, The amendment was carried, ' : 4
•From Mr A, Moody,'offering to do .Bome' work on the Waihakeke road at 6s per chain. Resolved that the matter be left in the hands of the Warden.
From Mr Joseph Renall, offering a right of road through bis property, which was accepted, and it was moved by the Chairman,and seconded by Mr Stevens, that the arrangement with Messrs Booth be now completed for the road through the Middle run. Mr R, Sayers waited on the Board & asked to be supplied with one cwt of wire, and the settlers would make the wire uetting for the purposo of protecting the banks of the Kaitangata river at Dalefield, Application granted. Mr Dorset was authorised to have some work done on Para road. It was decided that the agreernont botneen the Board and Mr Christiansen re a gravel pit be cancelled. Mr Deller moved and Mr Stevens seconded, that the ranger's services bo dispensed with at once, and that applications he invited for a fresh ranger,_ and after a good deal of discussion the motion waß oavried, and Mr Dellor authorised to arrange with the Borough Council re appointing another rauger. Some accounts were passed for payment, and the meeting theu closed.
