EDUCATION BOARD
The monthly meeting of the Board of Education was held on Wednesday, there being pioaent—The Chairman, (Mr J, K. Blair,) and -Mosaro G Beetham, J. Young, H. Bunny, P. H. Fraser,. A. W. Brown, Bev J. Patcraou, and DrNewmau. The bank booK showed a oredit balance of £1584 4s 7d, % resignation of Mr Wilfred Seale, pupil teacher at Groytop, was accepted. 'lho .Greytown Committee recommended that Mr Flux of the Clareville school, should be appointed successor to their school. It was decided to invite applications for the vacancy, the Rov 11. E. I'ucboy to • assume chargo in the meantime. An application from Mrs Bunting for lho transfer of her daughter, a, p/ teacher in the Groytown school, to yg, Mastorton.psfgr«ited. r*Hfittrßoard resolved to refund the expenses (£2 each), incurred by pupil (touchers in tho Wairarapa in attend- . yHng tho approaching examinations at Masterton. Correspondence relative to the olcctionol tho new committee at Mauricevillo East was considered, i and it was decided that the committee of tho Board who arc going to visit Newman and Ballanoo should also enquire into tho election. Loavo of absence of one month at the termination of the Christmas holidays was granted to Miss L Keeling, of the Masterton School. Tho use of tho Mangataihoko ~ School on certain conditions was granted for election purposes, Sewing teachers wero appointed as ; -- - follows :-Miss Bassott, Ohnriu; Mrs Lucy Smith, Tenui; Miss Edith Jones, Matarawa. . tho quoslion of' increasing the accommodation at Daleficld and obtaining other premises at Mauricevillo -East were referred to the committee appointed to go through the Forty-mile Bush early in December. '■• i- The Board decided to further con- " Wider the quostion of a second school Jat Masterton as soon as it is known what amount of money is available. An application from the Masterton committee for a specialgrant was declined. A tender was accepted for fencmg the Hastwell grounds. The question of increasing the accommodation "'at' Hastwell was deferred, as-was also a roport from tlje architect relative to the sanitary .arrangementsat Belvedere.
