ROAD BOARD.
The ordinary monthly meeting of the'Masterton Road Board was held on Saturday last. Present—Messrs Dagg (in the chair), Brown, MoLeod, and McKenzie. The minutes of the previous meeting were read and'confirmed.; < Mr Donovan wrote regarding a road in his neighborhood, but it, was decided that as the question of'this road had been settled some time ago, it could not again be opened. Mr H, Munro complained to the Board that Mrs Dorset had put a gate across the road known as Dorset's road without permission, to his annoyance. It was decided to write to Mrs Dorset, requesting her to remove the gate, as complaints were made by owners of adjoining lands. Messrs Mawley, Lee, falconer and Brodie, waited upon 'the Board to represent that there were several bad places on the Wangaehu road whioh required attention, and might be repaired out of thirds.—The Engineer was instructed to call for tenders for metalling about ten or twelve ohains of the road at Lee's bend, and near Brodio's section, It was resolved that Mr Mawley be written to drawing his attention to the injury done by the bush standing on his land near Brodie's section, and requesting him to fell it. A request from' Mr Mawley for permission to move tlie gate erected by him a mile further up the road was granted. The Engineer was instructed to prepare plans for expending the Kaka-ainu Valley road loan and call lor tenders for forming the same, subject to the reservation inado by tho promoters,
Tho balance of the purchase money for tho Ma-amu Valley road (£80), owing to Mr Stiwkey, was authorised to be paid. It was resolved that application be made for two loans ot £IBO and L7lO for formation and metalling on the Upper Upaki road, in accordance with a petition recently received,
The offer of the County Council to grant the use ol the County Chambers \ to the Board as an office, and provide all requisite stationery, stamps, firewood, &c„ for the sum of L 25 por , annum, was accepted, Messrs McKenzie and McLeod were appointed to sign cheques. Accounts as per pay sheet were passed for payment. Tho Engineer's report was read and adopted. The meeting then adjourned,
