A Hack shall mean a horse that has never started for, or is entered for, a weight for ago or handicap at timo of starting and has not been nominated for Derbies, Champagnes, or Guineas to bo run for this racing season; hack races excepted. !>. In all nominations for Handicaps, the name, age, pedigree, color, sex, and previous performances of tho horse,namo of owner, and colors of the riders, must he given, All horses to bo ridden in distinguishing colors: _ G. Any protest must bo lodged with the Secretary in writing, within ten minutes after the raco to which it refers has been run, and must bo accompanied by two sovereigns, which will be returned only if tho protest is sustained. 7, Horses walking over will receive fifty per cent of tho stakes, 8, All persons intending to withdraw horses are rcqnestcd to give notice in writing to the Secretary half-nn-hour before tho official time of starting such raco.
