Our farmers and sheep owners are going to hold a meeting to consider the 'new clause in the Sheep Act which makes wooUbranding compulsory unless the majority ot owners, representing not less than two thirds of the sheep, object. Oil and rubble branding is ineffectual, ana tar injures the wool. Branding is also i regarded as nf very little practical use for identification purposes or as a prevention of theft. Many of the farmers ridicule the compulsion, and a petition against it in this locality i will probably be got up,
