TENUI.
(From Our Own Correspondent.) Borne few montliß ago a new piano' was purchased for tbo Town Hall; the price, exclusive of carriage, being £SO. Two concerts have taken place and a Quadrille Assembly has been held with the object oi liquidating this debt, So financially successful have been these entertainments, that after paying all incidental expenses, there now remains only £2O deficit, The proceeds of tho last concert netted nearly £ls. • This is such a large sum to raise in such a small community, that.we can say tosomo of our neighbours and frionds: "Go thou and do likewise." It is to be regrotted that in describing our recent concert, your correspondent in adve-tently omittedone of the items, This vtas that ever-popular song " The Midshipmite," which was ably rendered by Mr Nicol, who was deservedly encored. Such a mistake proves once again the error of writing " without the book." ' A meeting of those interested in the formation of a Cricket Olub was held at the Tenui Hotel, on Saturday evening last. Whareanu has produced soma "first-chop" footballers and doubtless amongst us. there are many who can " wield the willow" and who will further be heard of as the season advances, So will the Club!
