NIL DESPERANDUM is a black colt with first class action, rising three years old, IGJ Imnds high, 13 inches below the knee, 31 inches round the arm, and 7ft G inches in girth. H is beyond doubt the best bred colt standing in hew Zealand, processing more bone and hair than any horse of his ago in tho North or South Islands, and admitted at last bliow by competent judges to bo the class of horse which has long been wanted to improve f draught stock of this district, _ Nil Desperaudum has been exhibited i) of the principal shows in N Z, and from large rings has secured four first and ono second prizes. Farmers' Lass was by Muir Lad inportcd (71 N Z S B) sire Pride of Scotland, dam Jess by Premier, imported by David Ncsbitt, This famous sire took many first prizesin Melbourne and ivns sold to Mr Town of N S W, for 1170 guineas. Dam Darby, by Briton, that was placed first at the Melbourne Show in 1873, and was sold nt 130 guinea* j the highest price ever given for a colonial maro up to that time. Veiy shortly after alio was purchased by Messrs Fleming ami Hcdlcy and taken to New Zealand, When tho maro was 14 years old she was sent to Sydney and fetched 150 guineas j] at auction, No Surrender's sire was that great horse King of Vanquishers, bred by Messrs Fleming and Hcdlcy, out of tho celebrated brood maro Miss M'Cormick, now tho property of Robert Jackson Esq, ; Cavo Valley j she was also the dam of Maggie M'Cormick, which also tool tho champion from Heather Bell when only a yearling. When only three years. King of tho Vanquishers was sold by Mr Daniel M'Gregor for 450 guineas; g sire Young Vanquisher, imported from Scotland by David Ncsbitt and well known'as a great breeding sire both in Timaru and Oamaru districts. It will thus be seen that this colt is come from the very best draught strains on both sides. No Surrender never left a show ground m N Z without a prize beating both colonial and imported horses, and in one year swept everything from Dunedin to Christcliurch.
