LABOUR CONFERENCE.
~ No-Sottlomont. [By, Telegraph.] (United Press Association.) The siib-conimitteo appointed by the Labour Conference for the purposo—Messrs D. P. Fiahor, Lomas, Brown; Sandford, Winter and J. A. Millar—mot the McLean on Saturday afternoon, and had an interview, lasting some hours, with him with a view to arriving at some settlement of the labor difficulty. The sub-committee submitted their views in the form of five proposals, all of which' were discussed as exhaustively os time would permit. The proceedings were not. open to the representatives of the press, but it is understood that the practical result of the interview was failure to arrange a basis of settlement. As might have been anticipated, the question upon which the sub-com-mittee and Mr McLean were. unablo to agree was that of the Unionists working alongside'non Union labor. Neither party was disposed to give way on that quostion, and there the negotiations seem to have ended. • To-day the Conference will resume its sittings at the Parliamentary buildings,
