Tho following is the correot list of tho buildings destroyed : ■' Dull & Co.'s : warehouse, insured for £140,500; Lark & Sous,'insured for £105,000; Feldheira.fGottheaf &00., insuredfor £106,000 ; Lazarus,' •Aronson k Co., iusiiredifor £15,006; Lawson & Sons, on r stock, £BOOO. The insurances on the City Bank, Eichardson, Wrench & Co., and the Athonrcuni Club are unknown. Gibbs, Sballavd and Co,, in .whose premises the fire broke out, have £19,000 on tho stock, and £IB,OOO on the building. The premises of, tho following are only partially destroyed.—Hughes, Chambers and Co", and Christopher and Newton (warehousemen), four large buildings occupied as offices, and several small buildings in Moore street, ' . It is impossible as yet to obtain the detailed insurances, but as far as can bo gathered they represent a total of £BOO,OOO. Tho loss is estimated at ovor £1,000,000. ', Lawson and Sons estimate their loss at £14,000 over the insurance, and Gibbs, Shallard and Co. theirs at £17,000. The Athonieuni was erected'three years ago at a cost of £50,000, -.-■■.■' So far as is known Ilia strong rooms in tho City Bank Building resisted the heat, . •-y Nothing is known as to the origin of the fire. The disastrous nature of the conflagration is no doubt largely, the result of the hemmed : in position of the buildings. Ten firemen were injured by falling walla and taken to the hospital. Two of the cases are of a serious character, .One of" the firemen got shut in the basement of a warehouse by a barricade of fire. His comrades rescued him by cutting through an iron-houud door, but not before he had been pretty severely burnt and scalded. Two hundred telephone wires were broken by the falling walls. It is understood that tho Commercial Union Insurance Company tops the list of risks with £48,000, then the Royal with £40,000; New Zealand Company, £30,000 ; London Liverpool and Globe, £16,000; Norwich Union, £9OOO. Later. The official estimato of the insursurance on the seven principal buildings dostroyed in this morning's fire is that it amounted to £890,000. i The details, however, are not yet' ready, CiißisTcnunoHi October 22, The Union Insuranoe Co of New Zealand lose £5500 by the Sydnoy fire.
