(Deforo His Honor District Judgo Robinson.) James v Ciulmehs. Tho defence in this case was concluded about six o'clock last ovening. Counsel for both sides addressed the Court at some length, and His Honor then submitted the issues to the jury. After a retirement of about four hours, the jury returned with tho following answers to the various issues |-« ' Did Chalmers issue an information and warrant ?—Yes,
Was there any express malice in his doing so ?—Yes. • Was O'Callaghan's beast killed by James with intent to steal ?—No.
Were there reports of cattlo mysteriously disappearing in the district at the timo f Yes, Did defendant. honestly and truly suspect the plaintiff at the time when ho laid the information 1 -No.
Did defendant find O'Callagkn's bide in the slaughterhouse, was it killed by O'Callaghan's consent, and did defendant know this when he laid the information- ?—Yes (by consent of both parties). Bad rewards been issued for the convictjon of persons stealing cattle ? -Yes.
What amount of damages, if an; is the plaintiff entitled to ?—£ls, His Honor then gave judgmen according to tho finding of tho jurj for £ls, with costs, £SG.
