FATAL ACCIDENT.
A Child-Crashed to Heath... . A sad fatal accident occurred in i Queen-street,Masterton, at 5.80 n.m • yesterday, when James, the two-year '. old son of Mr James Phillips, of r Chamberlain Bros' bakery, was run 1 over and killed. It appears that two young men i named 'Boagoy and Grigg were driv [ ing a spring cart to Kuripuni at the hour named, when the child rushed ffi n , out of the righUf-way near the shop, ~ . on to the road. Tho occupants of the s cart made every effort to pull up, but ol before they could do so the child fell ' "j bonoath the horse's feet and a wheel _ i passed over its body, ' t) , The child was at ouce convey ed to Si ita homo, and Dr Beard Bent for. 'i Before the doctor arrived, howevei'i t] ' r the child had breathed its last, An examination of the body was n made, but no marks of violence were P o a a discovered. It is supposed that the c lfc neck of the child must have, bean t! broken, ( ■ An inquest is- to bo held at 2 p,m ' c to-day.
