(Sir—As some misapprehension might exist in the minds of electors as to my remarks when retiring from the contest at the last election, I would be glad if you would insert the following reports from the Wairarnpa Dwand. the Wnirnrapa Star, which j appeared on July fith, MSB 7, I am, J ' W. Ho had tried to induce' «P tt ' W 0 Smith to contest his own boW, and so had Mr Ballance, but that gentleman had determined to stand for tho bush seat,' .and, however reluctantly, he felt compelled to contest it with him, (loud cheers), He believed there were about 200 eleo- , tors in Masterton entitled to vote in the Woodville distiict, and he hoped to realise their support, (renewed cheers), In conclusion he again expressed his gratitude to the electors of Masterton for the kindness they had always shown him, (applause.)
