London, September 19. Dion Boucicault, the well-known aotor and dramatist, Is dead, . Boucicault, Dion, actor and dramatist, b. iu Dublin 1822, Educated at London University. His first important play, ." London Assurance," was brought out at Covent Garden, '4l. Mr Boucicault has attained great celebrity as the author of several Irish, .dramas—notably, " The* Colleen 1 Ba'wn"' (Adelphi, London, '60); " Arrah-na-pogue" (Dublin, '64); and "Shaughraun" (Drury Lane, '75), During the first runs of -these popular plays Mr Boucioault personally took the I leading parts, He was a most prolific .': writer';, but' " Flying Scud" ('6O), " After Dark," and " Formosa" |('6B), may.be said to be his last most popular productions outside of his Irish.i.playSiMrl-Bouoioault was resident in: America,.; but in 'B7 visited England, 'taking.part in one of _ his plays, "The Jilt," at the Prince's, He has recently inaugurated a movement for establishing a histrionkconservatoire in New York'.
