ROAD BOARD.
The; ordinary monthly meeting of the Masterton Road Board held on Saturday, Present-para Beetham (Chairman), Dagg, Brown. • M'lienzio and M'L'eod, ■ The minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed. ' COBBESPONDENOE, From S, Donovan, informing the Board; that his road through Mr Haigh's was being ploughed, and ' asking that steps be taken to prevent' it being continued. It was resolvji->' that the Board cannot interfere'Hl'' the matter.
From 13.0. Smith, Taueru, Halting the permission of the Board to lay down a tramway line alongsido the Brancepeth road for a distance of about 83 chains. The application was granted, subjeot to the approval of the Engineer.
Prom Cameron Bros,, stating the amount of compensation they would expeot for a road through MaiririKapoa. It was ,resolved that : ap. plication bo made for a loan under the Loans to Local Bodies AtfP'for ' the purpose of making the road. * From Mr Harford, Applying for permission to impound Bto'ok from the district road.-The Board decided that it could not see its way clear to grant the request in the absence of complaints. From Chief Surveyor, stating that Mr Simpson would be in Masterton and take up the survey, on the bank of the Waingawa, and survey any roads to be legalised that wera required,
From Mr Jacob Joseph with reference to the owner of a section in the toangaakuta Block,—The olerk intimated that hq had sent a reply, From Br. Bright, consenting to give aright of road through his property to that of Wadbam and Deal.
From J, J, Freeth, protesting against permission being given to Messrs Henderson and Shute a steam motor on the Upper flam road.—Eeceived.
From Percy Cobb, authorising tha ■ Board to pay monies due to him to the Secretary of the NortliiVaLrarapa Benevolent Society, ** : , From the Chief Surveyor, stating that the certificate • for £l7O .for Stuckoy's road had been issued. Tenders, " Tenders were opined for contracts on the Wangaehu "Valley, and Koikuta roads, that of Mr Daniolls being accoptcd for the former, and Mr~ Kerrins for the latter. • Deputation.'
