Death at Will.
A peculiar casa occurred at Otakeho where a native who is alleged to be jealous of bis better half, feigned death for several days. The natives, thinking that ho had departed this life, went through the .regular formula of lamenting a soul departed, amongst other things going to the JL. local store and buying a blanket to wap the deceased in for burial, When they returned and wore about to perform the last rites, he came to life again, to the astonishment and 'joy of bis relatives. A week after he died again, and after remaining in a state of trance for two days, another blanket was bought, but the acquis!- - tion of the second blanket revived the. corpse again, Not yet feeling satisfied as to the constanoy of his dusky spouse, he resolved to test her by giving up the ghost a third lime. The natiyes by this time bid dropped • to tho situation and resolved to confido him to mother earth miuus a now blaoket, wbioh seems to have brought bim to bis usual state of health, and he has giron up the ' .death business, but has acquired two new blankets, and renewed faith in bis better half.
