ST MATTHEW'S CHURCH.
Tho interior of St Matthew's Churoh, Mastorton, .' has' • just been subjected to- a 1 thorough renovation, and now presents a most improved Appearance, Thesanotuary has been repaired, and a new altar rail, manufactured of beautifully grained native honeysuckle, inserted. The walls of tho chancel lnve been painted iu imitation of minton tilo work, whilst the mam walls are painted in imitation of Mocks of Btone, The .principals and rafiors have been stained and varnished and tho roof painted French .grey, A
dado 4ft Gin in height, in Indian red, with ornamental' "capping, has been formed. The pillars and arches, painted in imitation. grey stone,' present a most pleasing contrast to the main walls, which are of neutral orange. Beside these improvements two beautifully stained glass windows have been inserted, and three others, (including one from Mr Jas Nicol, and one from Messrs C0I0.& Payne), aro to be placed. Tho whole improvements, which are in every respect pleasing and attractive, have been executed under, the able supervision of Mr D. S.-l'apwortli.
