BOROUGH COUNCIL
A meeting of the Gas, Library and Fire Brigade Committees of the Mas terton Borough Council wus held last evening, there being present Crs Perry (in the chair), Mason and Dixon, The Gas Managors report was read as follows•
Gentlemen.-lii the month of July this year there was 281,694 cubic faet of gas consumed against 228,07G cubio feet for the same month Jnßt year, an increase for the month of 56,614 c,ft. For the twelve days of this month there has been an output of 103,294 e.ft, against 82,810| an increase ef 20,480 c.ft, for the 10 days, The' railway station was lighted with gas for the lirst time on Monday, the 4th iiist, I looked at the meter yesterday and foiind that they had only consumed 400 c.ft, for this week, but there are live lamps to bo put up yet, and when thoy a'ro at work I hope to see a better consumption, There has been one new consumer since last meeting of Committee, and I expect to have two others oa next week,
The works ai'e going on as usual, nothing special to report about. I am &c,, J, F, Robiksos.
The Clerk was instructed to communicate with the Grey Valley Co,, with reference to the supply of coal. It was resolved to recommend tho Council that the future oharge for gas for heating and cooking purposes be 8s per thousand, (Irs Perry and Mason were appointed a sab-committee to visit tho places referred to in the application for water supply for the Jubilee engine, and to procure an estimate for the proposed work.
Cr Dixon and the Clork were authorised to see to the spouting at the Institute.
