FIRE BRIGADE BALL.
The annual ball in connection with the Masterton "Volunteer Fire Brigade was held in the' Drill Hall last evening, ami toed out to be a.thorough sucoass. The attendanco-dL was not exceptionally large, the being occupied by about fifty couples, but the gathering was in every respect mhercM. The hall presented a most pleasing appearance, its elaborate decorations doing great credit to the committee by whom they I were executed, Under the . able guidance of Messrs Hooper and B. ' Hoitnslow, M.C.'s, the lengthy programme was gone through without a hitoh, .tho company dispersing in the early hours of the following morning, Excellent music was provided bytho string baud of Herr ?otf'seisohberg, and tho floor bring in good condition, an utter completeness in all things prevailed, Refreshments, which were provided by the ladies of the town, were in abundance and of first-class quality, and with this.'lkadjunct to the features above mentioned, the gathering was one of the most enjoyable ever held in the district,
