WAIRARAPA SOUTH COUNTY COUNCIL.
The ordinary meeting of the above Council was held on Saturday, in the Council Chambers, Carterton. Present •—Ora H R Bunny (Chairman), A Matthews.H Braithwaite, Wm Booth, WroCundy.andßAWakelinThe minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed. ■ Tho Treasurer reported ih bank overdraft to be £49719s Id; he also read a statement of receipts since last meeting. Correspondence:—rFom Wairarapa North County rq making special provision for re-ereoting bridges which may be destroyed by floods or fires. After some discussion it was resolved to further consider the matter at the next meeting of the Council.
From Mr Elgar, asking the Council to give 'permission for the use of the Tauueurenikau river for the purpose of an irrigating scheme, and for the Council to define the district to allow of a loan under the Governnieut Loans Act to meet the required expenses. After some di.pssion it w resolved to oall a special meeting of the Council to consider the matter upon receipt of more explicit information from the applicant. The accounts as audited were duly passed and the meeting adjourned,
