The ordinary monthly meeting ol the Masterton Trußt Lands Trustee! was held last evening, there being present Messrs W. Lowes (Chairman) B'.'P. Perry, H. Pybus waited upon tho Trust and signified his, willingness to accept the terms suggested by the Committee who had visited the section at Kuripuhi whioh is in dispute. ■■■,"■■ The Chairman informed Mr Pybus that the decision of the Trust would bo conveyed to him by letter. % SCHOOL OF DESIGN./ The balance-sheet of the School of Design was read, together with the report of Mr A. D. Kiloy, who recently visited Masterton. The Bev. VV, E. Paige, chairman, also wrote, stating that an increase had taken place in the attendance since the visit of Mr ftiley. '-'.•■

The Chairman of the Sohool of Design suggested, in a written communication, that scholarships be established. Tho Trust, however, decided that it could not see its way clear to do anything in tho matter at the present time.

The Chairman said ho was in utter ignorance as to the workings of the School of Design. He was glad to see the increase in the number of pupils attending the school, They had received the balance-sheet of the school, showing the way in which the grant of the Trusthad been expended, but he did not know what became of the fees etc,, and'how tho teacher was supported. .

[ Mr MoEwen remarked that at a meeting some months since it was decided to ask the School of Design for a full balance sheet, After some discussion, it was decided that the usual grant of £26 to the School, be made. OTHER SCHOOLS, . - ' The Rev J, M'Kenna made application for a grant in aid of the 1 Catholic School. , Referring to the application of the Fernridge Sohool for the usual grant, the Chairman said he had a strong objection to granting money for such t general purposes as those suggested. , He thought the Government should : undertake the works specified, , The Masterton School Committee . made application for a grant of £65. '. ' The Chairman said that £14016s I 9d had been expended by the Masterton School last year, and he would be glad to know where the money had beenspent. (Mr M'Ewen: hear I hear I) Mr M'Ewen" moved that before any further grants are made to the schools in the district, a properly audited accountoftke expenditure be|prepared. Mr Perry seconded.—Carried. SURRENDER OF LEASE. Mr M'Kiliop applied fora surrender of lease for his section in Church street It was decided that the Trust cannot take over the property until the building conditions are oomphed with, KUBOPUNI FIRE BRIGADE STATION. The Borough Counoil wroto, thanking the Trust for their offer of a site for a fire brigade station at Kurupuni. The termsofloaseas drawn up by the Borough solicitor wero read. LIBRARY WAN. The sum of £62 10s was'passed for payment, being tho amount granted by' the Trust towards the above loan. TRUST REGULATIONS. The Chairman submitted a schedule of new regulations, drawn up by himself and the Secretary, with reference to meetings of the Trust, etc., which he had undertaken to do in consequence of a hitoh whioh had ocourred at a previous meeting, OEXERAu. i The reoommendatiou of the Com- ' mittee to adopt a square lining for the land of Mr Pybus at Kurupuni was accepted, and the Secretary instructed to write to Mr Pybus to | that effect.
