At noon on Sunday, a further armistice was arranged, but tho warships of the Eepublio opening fire on city, fighting was generally revived. A bulletin was issued in the afternoon claiming that the N Holy Bevolntion had triumphed, and insisting on a complete change of w \ Government. , * . Three thousand of President Celman's troops, with 50 pieces of artillery, arrived late on Sunday evening, and on Monday morning the iu'surgents seeing these were strongly entrenohed in the vicinity of Government House, reduced their demands to a simple request that President *Celman should resign. • DrOharlesPellegini,Vice-President sent terms to Saumartini, where the President is staying, ind the armistice was extended to 2 o'clock ' in the afternoon to permit of a reply being received. The engagement was simply butchery and the loss of life has been tremendous. Dr Celman's police and soldiers lost 800 killed, and the police • now number only 500. The Edengate troops refused to comply with Vice-President Pellegrini's summons, and it is doubtful ' whether the reinforcements of President Celman will exceed 1200 men with 10 cannon.
