ALFREDTON ROAD BOARD.
A meeting of the above Board was held on July 22nd. Present -Messrs Kebbell (Chairman), Beiiton", Eli Smith and 6; M, George. • The: minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed. Inward correspondence was rea< as follows:
From Wairarapa North County Council, stating thay had applied for loan and desiring guarantee for preliminary expenses. It was reI solved that! this Board guarantee tbe preliminary expenses of raising loan. .
From Bank of New Zealand acknowledging cheque for £lB Os 9d | and £'B 8s Id.
Erom Registrar of Supreme Court, enclosing £8 Bs, being rates costs on £157.
Property-tax Commissioner, enclosing form for balance of sub-
sidy, . From same, enclosing list _of alterations to be made in valuation roll.
From New Zealand Fire Insurance j Company, re polioy on office due on August Ist. ■'' , I From J. Gee re busbfalling on road line.
.MrJ. W. Beaufort waited-oh the Board n continuing road to the bouudaryof Mr Benton's property, and offering to do tbe same for £8 Bs. lit was decided that Beaufort's offer be accepted, and that Beaufort be
laid £l2 on account, ltesolved that Mr Arthur Burling )o paid £lO on account. That Mr Eli Smith be appointed to
pass work in Pah Valley ltoad South. . Mr Eli Smith reported that he had employed a man one and a half days to remove slips etc, ion Tawataia I road, and Mr Smith's aotion was approved; ' . The Clerk was instructed to call for fenders for thirty-four chains formation on Pah Valley Boad,South tenders to close at next meeting, Mr Eli Smith gave notice of niotiou
to be confirmed next meeting.
A special order was made for triking a special rate of 8-bths of a
penny in the $ for a loan of £SO foi expenditure in Pah Valley Hoad South. Messrs H. Benton and Eli Bmitl we're appointed to sign cheques. The payment sheet showed £10! ilßslld.
Mr 11. Benton was authorised to get some work done on the Ihurana Valley road,'■ The nost meeting will bo held on Augusb 9 th.,
