To BjSMppai to England,
At theCollingwood Court recently. Mr Nettleton, J.P, was asked by brother of a respectably attired w named Herbert Stow to send him (the latter) to tho reformatory. He related a story to the, Bench which showed the possession of a verystrange disposition on the partof tho youth, who is quite unuianageablo.and beyond parental control. His father has been put 'to the expense of. hundreds of pouhcltj in his attempts to place him in a position to earn his living, but each attempt lias resulted in failureand a series of impositions upon his friends. Three times his passage was paid to Eugland, and each time ho has contrived to BJJPj away. Somo weeks ago his fathW determined to go Home with him and hind him to a master, so that he might learn a calliug and be away from influences.which may affect him. At Adelaide he allowed his father to go on with the boat to England, and after obtaining an advance from the agents there he found his way to Victoria, where his mothor receiped and forgaye him. He, however, so returned to his, "impositions,"as his brother termed them, that on Monday last another trip was settled upon anihjte passage money paid; but within'five minutes of Bailing time he evaded his guardians once more. To-day he appeared charged, undor the Vagrancy Act, with idling about and having no visible nieans of support. The chairman said be would rather send him to gaol, Mr Lyons, who entered at the moment, said, with all respect, the Bench could not send him to gaol. Mrflettleton: Why? Mr Lyons: Because up to the last minute he has beon living with his pareuts, Tho lad here blubbered out—"l promise to be a good boy if you.lel me off." He was Bent to gaol on remand for, a weok, at tho end of which time hoFw to bo shipped away for old EnghmJ and his father onco more.
