The Governor's Horse.
Auckland, July 23, A peculiar case wus brought before the Police Court at Otorohanga recently, when a man named Alex, Bray was charged with having obtained money by false pretences a few months ago when.his Excellency Lord Onslow and party were on their way to the Waikato lo visit the Waitomo Oaves. One of the Governor's horses was severely burned through some straw catching fire, and it was deemed advisable to destroy the animal, which was given to Bray, who was orded to shoot it, and ho afterwards claimed fee, 10s, and tho money was paid. It was subsequently found that the horse was not destroyed, and that it was running with wild horses in the King country ; hence the charge against Bray. The caso, however, was dismissed, The horse has been brought to the city, and is now in the Government House stables.
