Sydney, July 14. Further labour troubles are threatening owing to no reply having been received to the rules secretly agreed to by the Seamen's' Conference and forwarded for the steamship owners' approval a wiek ago. Tho delegates from the other colonies remain here awaitiug the reply, If it do'es not come to hand shortly they intend to return to their homos,' and the rules will come into operation'immediately, The owners have notified the Seamen's Union that they willconsider the new rules at a special meeting this week, The seamen liave notified that if the rules are not accepted they will take aotion at tho end of the week.
' Tljo marine engineers are now agitating for an increase ol pay, and are ionvarding their demands to the owners. A conference isproposed, Tho old standing dispute with tho colliery gngino drivers has been settled, the proprietors agreeing to pay the late scale of wages. Overtime ig dema|)dec} by the njeu after September )st, .■■ ■ This Pay. The Carrier's Union hasdecidedto affiliate will) tho Shearer's Union. This federation will preclude carriers from loading non-union shorn wool. The Ifrrine Officers' Association threaten owners not replying to their domands to withdraw their request and | apply, for affiliation with the Maritime Council or Trades and Labor Cqunbil.' '■
